One of the best things you can do while undergoing a weight-loss program is celebrate each and every one of your successes. Last week, I talked about setting attainable goals in order to keep from disappointing yourself. Why not celebrate every goal you reach with a little reward.
There are a lot of doctors and weight-loss professionals who advice against rewarding yourself with ice cream after you’ve lost weight, but as long as you don’t overdo it, why can’t you? I’ve said it before, and I will say it again and again: denying yourself the things you love will only make you want them more. Inevitably, you will wind up binging if you love ice cream but can’t have it. There is nothing wrong with eating a serving size now and then. After all, you’ve earned it.
Food isn’t the only way to reward yourself.
Think of all the things you’ve changed in your life. Your body, for example. Chances are you need new clothes. Reward yourself with a new outfit so you can show off those new curves. As you’re parading around in that new outfit, you’re going to feel good about the fact that you are wearing it, and more likely to stay focused so you can get another one when you reach your next goal.
Treat yourself to a spa treatment or massage. Weight loss is hard work, especially if you’re hitting the gym four or five times a week. On top of work and life’s other business, the reward of a relaxing visit to the spa will definitely make all that hard work worth it.

A night out on the town with your significant other or your friends is another great reward. Not only will you be having fun, but just like that new outfit, you’ll be showing off your progress. There’s nothing like a host of compliments when you’re doing well to keep your confidence boosted.
No matter what you decide to reward yourself with, having something to look for will keep you on track with each and every goal you set. Celebrate each and every achievement, and when you reach out to grasp those larger goals, make sure you reward yourself with something really special.
A weekend getaway, perhaps?
