This is such a good idea, and I hope it takes off!

Hanky Pancreas has created a collection of cute accessories for Type 1 diabetics who have to use insulin pumps. The accessories both hold and hide the pumps with feathers, jewels, flowers and more on necklaces, holders and other accessories.

Insulin pumps are used for Type 1 diabetics as an alternative to daily injections.  Diabetics who use insulin pumps usually have to strap their pumps to their bodies, as part of the pump is placed under the skin to administer the insulin, which is often hard to hide. Now, diabetics can not only wear them proudly but use them to accessorize their favorite outfits.

I love the message: don’t be embarrassed by your disease, rock it!

Hanky Pancreas is a start-up company, created by Jessica Floeh, a Type 1 diabetic and student at Parsons The New School of Design in New York City.

Hanky Pancreas’ insulin pump-hiding accessories are created for women, but unfortunately, the line is not available to consumers yet, as they are currently searching for investors, but something tells me we may see these for sale very soon.

Hanky Pancreas has also promised 10% of the future proceeds will go towards diabetes research.

Head to HankyPancreas.com to check out the designs.
