Blogger Inspired By “Julie & Julia” Wants to Lose 100 Pounds

Julie and Julia is the perfect example of the power of blogging: Julie Powell learned how to make all of Julia Child’s recipes, worked on her marriage, got a book deal and was played by Amy Adams in a hit film. ABC News reports that Tampa-based blogger Stacy Woltmann was inspired by Powell’s journey, but she’s not going to be loading up on all that butter; she’s hoping to lose 100 pounds.

Stacy, who started out at 419 pounds and has already lost 17, has created a blog called “Am Skinny Jeans.” I’m trying really hard to stick to a schedule,” she said. “One of the biggest problems is that I don’t have enough time to eat. I need to get in several small meals a day.”

Stacy’s approach is not a crash diet, but a simple, healthy eating approach. “I’ve tried Slimfast. I’ve tried Atkins…like the citrus and grapefruit diets. I’ve tried all of them,” she said. But with the motivation of keeping up her blog, she’s hopeful that her current plan will stick. “I’m blogging my way through weight loss. My initial goal is lose 100 pounds in one year,” she explained. “I’ve always wanted to write. And I thought a blog would be a great way to be able to do that,” she said.

The internet can be an invaluable tool of information and also encouragement from others. “The outpouring of encouragement and support has been overwhelming,” Stacy said. “So many people have shared their own stories with me … I find them to be an inspiration.”

Good for you, Stacy! I hope you keep it up! Yesterday, I found another weight loss journey with Marshall Reid, a 10 year-old who posts YouTube videos of healthy remakes of popular dishes. Let me know if you find more inspirational people!
