I had the pleasure of meeting Randie, creator of “Rand Hill Naturals,” at a recent LA Beauty event and was floored by her down-to-earth nature, her natural products, and her story of how she started her skin care business. Her brand, “Rand Hills Naturals,” came from her goal is to create exceptional, unrefined, handmade products that incorporate plant and mineral ingredients of natural origins in their simplest, most unrefined form– products that are free of artificial colors, fragrances and preservatives.
Her focus is on creating natural products with honey which has healing properties have been known for centuries from Cleopatra’s beauty regimens to the trenches during wartime.
Specific to acne prone skin, honey offers some very distinctive properties. Unique to orange blossom honey are the citrus pollens that offer low concentrations of Alpha hydroxy acids that work to manage acne breakouts by gently exfoliating the skin to allow the skin to breath more effectively and prevent clogged pores. The natural enzyme Glucose Oxidase found in honey converts to a mild hydrogen peroxide making it naturally antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral. It works to oxygenate the skin, improve circulation and even skin tone. Additionally, honey draws out impurities and tighten pores, firms skin tone and encourages the development of collagen.
